Wall Decor Barmeri - Diya Candle Lantern

BARMER

The name Barmeri is derived from Barmer, which is located in the western part of Rajasthan state of Bharat (India). Barmer is also a part of the Great Indian Desert -Thar Desert.  We named this lantern Barmeri, in respect of the culture of Barmer. 

Barmeri- Respect for all artisans of Barmer

In Barmer and also in other parts of western Rajasthan we can find the water bottles kneaded in jute thread to balance the temperature of drinking water on summer days. Many tribal artisans and especially women artisans of gypsy communities make this craft. This Jute-based bottle is really very useful in the summer days of Rajasthan. 

Inspired by the shape and pattern of this jute kneaded water bottle we created one lantern but with few improvements in size and other features. In respect of the culture and all Local artisan of the Barmer district, we named this craft BARMERI.  And whenever we see this lantern or talk about this craft, it reminds us of that beautiful scene of Barmer.

ANKUD

In the tribal region of Rajasthan, the word 'Ankud' means Hook. Inspired by Ankud our artisans created this wall hanger which is used to hang Lantern, hanging Diya, platform clock, bell, or any decorative hangings.

This antique golden finished Ankud is made of wrought iron with a combination of metallic black, copper, and brass color polish.

The presence of this Ankud makes this craft a wall decor unit. 

Wall Decor Concept of BARMERI LANTERN

In this unit, there are two major crafts- a Barmeri Lantern and Wall mount Ankud-Hanger. With the help of Ankud- hanger we can use this lantern as a wall decor piece. 

We can use this lantern in the indoor area of your house, balcony, and entrance area.

Care Instruction.

Please do not use water or any chemical-based cleaner to clean this craft. We can use any dry cotton cloth or tissue paper to clean the inside and outer area of the pot. By using wax polish on the outer surface we can add a little glossy shine to this. 

Handcrafted in Rajasthan

This is handcrafted by the local artisans of the west region of Rajasthan. This craft is made out of the wrought iron sheet with a combination of metallic black, golden, and copper polish. With the fusion of these three color coatings, artisans add a little vintage and heritage finish to this.
