NANDI - A Holy Bull of Lord Shiva

The name Nandi, which means “happiness,” designates the sacred bull belonging to Shiva, The Nandi represents power, virility, joy, and delight, as well as a controlled potential for destructiveness.

According to the Vayu Purana, Nandi is the son of Rishi Kasyapa and Surabhi.  He is also known as Lord Shiva's Gatekeeper. Besides being Shiva's vehicle, Nandi is also the chief of the Shiva-Ganas (Lord Shiva's team) or attendants.

A statue of Nandi is present as a bull sitting on a plinth in front of Holy Shivalinga in most Hindu temples. He sits in a dedicated columned pavilion known as a Nandi mandapa and is positioned so that he gazes in adoration at Shiva's linga within the main temple.

NANDI- Symbol of Eternal Waiting

As per Sadguru, Nandi is not waiting for Shiva to come out and say something. He is in waiting. Nandi is a symbol of eternal waiting because waiting is considered the greatest virtue in Indian culture. One who knows how to simply sit and wait is naturally meditative.

Nandi is Shiva’s closest accomplice because he is the essence of receptivity. Before you go into a temple, you must have the quality of Nandi – to simply sit.

With a combination of cone artwork painting on solid wood, our artisan crafted a beautiful sculpture of Holy Nandi. Generally, we found Nandi bull with Tatpar Mudra in a sitting position, but In this idol, we used Vajrasana Mudra. 

There is one brass bell tied in the neck of Nandi through a brass chain. It adds a realistic look to this idol. 

NANDI- A Mission to Help Innocents Gauvansh

Generally, Cows and Bull are considered sacred in Sanatana Dharma, which is based on Vedic Philosophy. And our ancient research declares that human society can achieve extraordinary strength and a stable collective mind (physical and spiritual) by doing Gau (Cow) Seva. 

But with the time journey, people avoid cattle farming and they accept only female calves for Milk production. Once a cow grows old and stops giving milk, its owner disowns them because they are of no use to them. Thousands of such innocent cows are left on the street without a home.

In India, there are many Gaushalas and Trusts who accept this kind of homeless and injured Gauvansh. We can also help them in their selfless services, which is a kind of Nandi Worship.

Handcrafted in Rajasthan

This is handcrafted by the local artisans of the west region of Rajasthan. Artisan has used cone artwork on hand-painted wooden craft.  Generally, we avoid solid wooden craft to avoid unnecessary tree cutting but for this project, we especially give thanks to our artisan who used only dry, seasoned, and old wooden pieces.

In case of branding or personalized message, we can choose brown gift wrap paper with your message or brand-related content.

Care & Handling Instruction.

Please do not use water or any chemical-based cleaner to clean this craft. We can use any dry cotton cloth to clean the inside and outer area of the basket. By using wax polish on the outer surface we can add a little glossy shine to this. 

In the case of the natural planter, please use a plastic, metal, or glass container as a base in the basket to avoid rust and damage.
